Getting a second opinion makes sense when the patient is unsure whether the planned treatment or planned operation is advisable or when there is a choice of different treatment options.
A second opinion is intended to avoid a wrong diagnosis or to give patients the certainty that the initial medical findings are correct and make sense. Depending on the diagnosis, alternative treatment options can be indicated.
Before getting a second opinion, we recommend that you clarify with your insurance company how the costs of a second opinion are covered and what conditions you may have to comply with. After getting two opinions, you are free to choose which doctor you want to be treated by.
